The Janesville United Methodist church is committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus, welcoming all into our loving family of believers and serving God as He presents opportunities.
Groups and committees:
Here is a brief description of our church's groups and committees (in alphabetical order).
Currently, most meetings are scheduled on an as-need basis.
All meetings (except SPPRC) are open for any member of the congregation to attend or join.
Administrative Council
A representative from each church committee meets to review what they have been working on and coordinate ideas and plans with each other.
Finance Committee
This group reviews and monitors the church’s income and expenses.
They also coordinate fund-raising activities, for various church needs.
JUMPies
This is fund-raiser ministry. They make and sell homemade pies for church and community fund-raising events. They also fill orders for individual requests.
Membership Committee
This group keeps records of congregational statistics, such as baptisms, births, deaths, new members, etc.
Memorial Committee
This group keeps track of memorials (designated or not) donated to the church and ensures that every donation receives a "Thank You" note.
Missions
This group determines the mission projects the church will focus on and coordinates fundraising for the missions.
Nominations Committee
This group keeps the committee spaces filled. They determine individuals who might be a good fit for a particular committee and contact individuals to see if they would be willing to join committees. Anyone who wishes to join a committee can contact the Nominations Committee to work out the details.
PEC (Permanent Endowment Committee)
This group coordinates the investments made for the church’s endowment fund and reviews, approves, and distributes yearly grants for various projects.
Quilters (Mondays @9:30 am).
This group works on various quilting projects, by commission, or for craft sales.
SPPRC (Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee)
This group monitors the staff relationships with/for the church. Each staff member is assigned a liaison from this committee to discuss any needs or concerns they may have.
Shepherds (first Tuesday of the month @9:30 am).
This group visits homebound, shut-ins, and nursing home residents on a regular basis. They provide fellowship, and they will also provide Communion for anyone who requests it.
(Children's) Sunday School - Sundays @9:15 am (September thru May).
These classes are provided for adults and children to learn and grow in Christian faith.
Trustee Committee
This group is in charge of the upkeep of the church building and parsonage.
UWF (United Women of Faith) – unit meeting - first Thursday of the month @ 1:00 pm.
This group offers women opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of mission, grow spiritually and have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of women, children and youth. Women can also join a circle for small group fellowship.
Worship Committee
This group takes care of changing decorations in the sanctuary, any other decorating needs, and coordinating monthly Communion serving.
Youth Group
This is a group for middle school and high school kids to have fellowship, to learn, and to grow in Christian faith.
Z-Team (fourth Tuesday of the month @1:00 pm).
This group develops ideas and opportunities for the congregation to reach out into the community and for congregational development.
